The Dave Jasso Foundation exists with a dual mission: to actively fundraise for ALK Positive, supporting their critical research in the fight against ALK-positive lung cancer, and to honor the enduring legacy of Dave Jasso.

Our Logo

Aircraft: Central to our logo is the EA-6B Prowler, the aircraft that Dave proudly flew as a Naval Flight Officer, symbolizing his distinguished military career.

​

Ribbon: A white ribbon is incorporated, symbolizing the global fight against lung cancer, and representing our foundation's commitment to ending this disease.

​

Stars: The logo features stars styled after the Dallas Cowboys, Dave's lifelong favorite sports team, reflecting his enduring passion for them.

​

Red Circle: Encircling the logo is a red ring, representing Ace Hardware, the heart of Dave's entrepreneurial journey, signifying his business acumen and the pride he took in his work.

​

"Garudas" Gold: The gold color in the logo is inspired by the patch of Electronic Attack Squadron 134 (VAQ-134), a unit where Dave formed familial bonds, symbolizing camaraderie and unity.

​

Crimson: Throughout the logo, we've used a shade of crimson red, a nod to the Alabama Crimson Tide, Dave's favorite college football team, representing his unwavering support and enthusiasm.

Our Team

Our board is composed of individuals who not only share a deep personal connection to Dave but are also deeply committed to the mission in the fight against ALK-positive lung cancer.

Chairman, Co-Founder

Chad David Jasso

Chad is dedicated to advancing the fight against ALK-positive lung cancer in memory of his father. Chad brings to the Dave Jasso Foundation his professional experience in advising C-suite executives and investor relations teams on the equity capital markets.

​

While studying Economics and Political Science at The University of Alabama, Chad was actively involved in fundraising for veteran and military affairs and served on the Executive Board of Theta Chi, his father’s fraternity. He is currently broadening his expertise by pursuing a Master's in Data Science at The University of California, Berkeley.

​

Balancing his professional and academic pursuits, Chad is also committed to sports, coaching high school lacrosse, and participating in triathlons, honoring his father's passion for mentorship and athletics. His involvement in the Foundation and these activities are driven by a desire to continue the legacy and values of his father.

Board Member

Susie Murphy

Susie, Dave's sister, is an instrumental figure within the Dave Jasso Foundation. Bringing over twenty years of invaluable experience in clinical research to the table, particularly in the realm of oncology drug development, Susie significantly contributes to the Foundation's core mission. She employs her extensive background and leadership acumen to spearhead initiatives aimed at combating cancer.

​

Susie holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, underscoring her lifelong dedication to scientific discovery and innovation.

​

On a personal note, Susie finds joy and fulfillment in family life, mirroring Dave's own values. She cherishes the moments spent cheering for her children at sporting events, supported by her wonderful husband, Ross. This shared love for family and sports further cements her connection to Dave's legacy and the Foundation's community.

Board Member, Co-Founder

Charles Jasso

Charles, continuing the legacy of his father, is deeply committed to the mission of the Dave Jasso Foundation. Charles brings a unique perspective and a strong sense of purpose to the foundation, driven by his father's enduring influence.

​

Representing Florida at Boys Nation, Charles demonstrated early leadership potential and a keen interest in civic training. He is currently pursuing a dual degree in Economics and Jurisprudence Law at The University of Alabama, enriching his understanding of complex societal systems. His involvement in Air Force ROTC reflects a dedication to discipline and service, values he shared with his father.

​

Charles also contributes to his father’s business, Cantonment Ace Hardware, where he applies his growing knowledge and work ethic.

In his personal life, Charles enjoys camping and grilling, activities that resonate with his father's passions.

Board Member

Greg Jasso

Greg, Dave's brother, is a cornerstone of the Dave Jasso Foundation. Currently serving as the Senior Vice President of Development at The Irvine Company, Greg brings his project management and leadership skills to the forefront of the Foundation’s efforts. His background in the US Navy, combined with his leadership roles in the private sector, has honed his expertise in overseeing complex development projects and guiding strategic initiatives.

​

Greg shared an educational bond with Dave as alumni of the United States Naval Academy, where Greg received his BS in Economics. Greg further earned an MBA from the University of California, Davis - Graduate School of Management, preparing him for leadership roles in strategic development.

​

Greg’s personal life echoes the passions he shared with Dave, including a fervent love for Dallas Cowboys football, a team they both enthusiastically supported.

Courtney Colmenares

Courtney, Dave's niece, contributes her extensive expertise in finance and accounting to the Dave Jasso Foundation. Currently serving as the Chief Financial Officer at Saalt, she brings over a decade of experience in strategic financial management, profoundly impacting the Foundation's operations.

​

Her academic journey in Accounting at Florida State University and the University of North Carolina Wilmington laid the groundwork for her successful career, marked by progressive leadership roles in the finance sector. Courtney's skills in financial oversight and strategy are pivotal in guiding the Foundation's fiscal approaches.

​

Courtney’s personal life echoes the values of service and dedication cherished by Dave. Her commitment to the Foundation blends professional acumen with a deep familial connection, continuing Dave’s legacy of dedication and service.
